Build Positive Self-Esteem

What is Self-Esteem?

Self-Esteem is a measure of how much you value, respect and feel confident about yourself.

Difference between self-confidence and self-esteem

Self-confidence is how you feel about your abilities and can vary from situation to situation. I may have healthy self-esteem, but low confidence about situations involving debate on economics/politics. When you love yourself, your self-esteem improves, which makes you more confident.

How to Improve Your Self-esteem: Useful Tips

1. Get Motivated

Read something inspirational, listen to something empowering, talk to someone who can uplift our spirits, who can motivate us to become a better person, to live more consciously, and to take proactive steps towards creating a better life for ourselves and our families.

To be a champ, you have to believe in yourself when nobody else will.

2. Be helpful to others

Help somebody. You can do to make others feel good or trigger them to smile. Not only is helping people a great way to boost the moods of others, but you might find that you feel better about yourself after doing something particularly excellent.

3. Start Small

Start with something you can do immediately and easily. When we start with small successes, we build momentum to gain more confidence in our abilities. Each completed task, regardless of how small, is a building block towards a more confident you. Celebrate the small stuff. You can’t expect any huge progress to be made overnight.

4. Compare yourself to others in positive way otherwise don’t compare at all

There are different types of people in the world. Everyone is not bad and everyone is not good. But everyone has at least one good quality. So we always learn good quality rather than focusing on bad qualities. Compare your quality with good quality of person not with person.

Always remember. Winners don’t do different things, they just do the things differently.

5. Handle mistakes and failures positively.

Everyone on the earth makes mistakes – it’s in our basic human nature. Why should you be any different? When you do mistake, don’t stress, think that how to come out from it, learn from it and move on.

It’s not how we make mistakes, but how we correct them that defines us.

6. Positive self-talk

The way that you think about yourself has a huge influence on your self-esteem. If you keep telling yourself that you’re no good, you might just start to believe it even though it’s not true. Our actions are inspired by our thoughts. If we can change the way we think, we can begin to change the actions we take. It is human nature to seek personal growth; whether financially, emotionally, physically or spiritually. Practicing positive self-talk can help us set in motion actions that will bring us greater rewards.

7. Do things that you enjoy

If you’re doing things that you enjoy, you’re more likely to be thinking positively. Schedule time for fun and relaxation into every day.

8. Surround yourself with supportive people

Don’t hang around people who bring you down. Find a group of people who make you feel good about yourself and avoid those who tend to trigger your negative thinking. Try to spend more time with those who are more near and dear to you.

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.
